A high-end veneer showroom in the outskirts of Ahmedabad was developed within an existing industrial shed structure. Large bamboo trusses span the width of the showroom to enrich the experience of viewing and understanding the Veneers on display in various forms.

The existing PEB structure had a large volume with an almost square floor plan. The brief was to create a veneer display space within approximately 60 % of this area and the remaining area to be used to stock the material.
A conscious effort was made to make the overall space not feel rectilinear like the industrial shed but to break away from the normal with a few strategic interventions. A new bamboo truss roof was designed under the existing volume of the industrial shed. A series of 12 Bamboo trusses spanning 11 meters encloses the space to provide for a column free, open plan. This allows for walls to take free form shapes to enclose functional requirements like the meeting room, washroom and a pantry. The functions are tucked along one edge of the space to maximize showroom space where the client can exhibit and showcase the wide range of products. The curved internal walls stand in stark contrast to the outer enveloping walls which hug the existing peripheral walls of the structure.

The bamboo truss roof spans the length of the showroom with its low central volume creating a more cozy and intimate space for the clients and architects to be under during the process of selections, as the roof tapers towards its high point where the large sheets of veneer are displayed on the long plain wall.
