This three-storeyed villa was designed as a first home for a joint family fulfilling the indoor needs and dreams of the residents as well as providing ample outdoor space for them to enjoy and share with their guests with careful consideration of climate and context.

The ground floor and first floor housed the general needs of the residents which included the bedrooms, living room, drawing room, mandir and kitchen while the second floor housed some of their extra-curricular needs in the form of a gym, play space and terrace garden for intimate parties.
Internally the house inter-connects its spaces through a double volume that overlooks the outdoors and connects to it as well by means of a large deck at the ground floor. The home opens itself to the garden in the South with large cantilevers and balconies to control the light and heat entering the house. It shields itself from the large commercial building at the North with limited openings and a pergola that directs people from the pedestrian gate to the entrance of the home with a canopy of greenery.

The project uses the expression of extruded masses from a geometrically shaped envelope to address the design challenges of the site as well as to create its identity within the community without becoming imposing. A salient feature of the project is that the house is never entirely visible from the adjacent roads due to the trees around the garden and the staggered built form towards the front.
