The Boxing Arena was built over an existing run-down municipality-owned tennis court which was being under-used. The location of the site was quite strategic due to its immediate context being a public garden and an upcoming lake with plenty of parking space.

The arena comprised of two primary structures; the large semi-open arena that was designed with a series of trusses as a folded plate structure to structurally span the large width but also to give a dynamism to the overall feel of the structure. The undulating planes open out to the secondary vaulted structure that housed the strength training section of the intervention. The other ancillary structure such as change rooms, washrooms, cafeteria | canteen, security cabin and storage cabins were also accommodated within the campus to support these main activities.

The undulating roof structure floats above large concrete columns that are anchored into the existing plinth to keep the view at the ground level as free as possible for seating and maximum interaction across spaces.

The campus is connected to a Municipality garden to its north and a large upcoming lake to its south. To the west lies a multi-storey residential complex while to the east was a high school. The strategic location of the intervention allowed for maximum usage at different times of the day.
